Developing successfully new products and services by using the “Wealth Management Canvas”

Participants will learn the theory behind the “Wealth Management Canvas” (WMC), an extension of Osterwalder & Pigneur’s “Business Model Canvas”, for developing innovative products and services targeted towards the wealth management industry. Participants will apply the framework to a product or service of their choice and learn how the WMC ensures a holistic view, helps ask critical questions, and avoid classical pitfalls. Through the interactivity of the workshop, the focus will be on those areas that are important to the participants. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a high level view how the WMC can help them in their day-to-day work related to innovating in wealth management.

Engaging stakeholders in the Open Innovation process of financial products and services

The benefits for financial service firms interacting extensively with their environment in the innovation process are manifold, including significant amount of external knowledge exploration and exploitation, cost reduction, leveraging complementarities by accessing unique resources, shorter time-to-market as well as gaining stronger credibility and access to partners’ network. Tremendous value in an open innovation process can be created by engaging not only customers, but a wide variety of stakeholders, such as universities, NGOs, local community partner, representatives of the local government, suppliers and professional associations, in different phases of the innovation process. Research emphasises the role of the stakeholder as an opportunity for facilitating innovation. Indeed, scholars argue that open innovation and stakeholder engagement describe similar organisational processes, as in both cases, the focal organisation reaches outside its boundaries making an explicit effort to access essential information.

Lending olympics: Manage your virtual bank in a team competition

CreditLab® is an award winning simulation-based training course designed to not only facilitate a deeper understanding of retail credit risk concepts, but also to develop sharper portfolio management skills. This interactive workshop offers participants a chance to test-drive their technical expertise in a ‘flight simulator for bankers’, managing virtual consumer lending portfolios. Now begins your chance to test drive the ‘flight simulator’. You’ll join a team of 4-5 members and battle it out against the other teams. You’ll have to manage four retail lending portfolios (secured and unsecured loans) across two markets (emerging and mature). Create your portfolio strategy, and the team with the highest net income after two years wins the round! In this module you will have to (1) allocate your limited marketing budget among four portfolios and (2) create your underwriting standards that are combination of credit policy, credit scores, verification standards, and override thresholds.
